Interesting and sustained climbing that avoids the tough initial section of the direct. Start as for Batt Crack. Move up a short wall to a ledge and then head diagonally right to the base of a corner (as for Batt Crack). Now climb diagonally left to meet a crack in the arete (junction with Vampire Direct), and follow it to the faultline. Surmount the overhang using an ammonite and continue straight to the top on easier ground. © Rockfax

As for Batt Crack, climb a short wall to a ledge and go diagonally right to the base of a corner. Continue diagonally left to to climb the crack in the arête to the faultline. Surmount the overhang using an ammonite and continue straight to the top on easier ground.
