Led P1 & P3. Epic route. I think we were on it for 4 hours!!! Struggled to find P1 belay - ended up belaying at a rusty old peg. Cracking little crux setting off on P2 and great top pitch to add to the experience.
robin_hackney - AltLd O/S - 06/May/13
Start of p2 was wet so had to go through steep choss on the right to start. Otherwise great - big bad outing.

Would give this 3 stars, but the climbing is broken up by the slab after the 2nd pitch. The 2nd pitch rising traverse is awesome! and the last pitch is steep but all the holds are positive.

Lead pitch 2 and 3. P2 is amazing territory, great exposure towards the end of the traverse, crux move probably leaving the belay and moving round onto "the nose". Good steep climbing when you leave the traverse, shame the upper slab is a bit vegetated. P3 is also no soft touch and solid 5b. Three stars, more like E2 IMO.

Superb route. Led pitch 2 which had a hard start and the groove which was run out but steady climbing. Pitch 3 is no push over. Overall low in the grade but still worth E3 and you need a steady leaders head.

Pitches 1 and 3, very good route.

Went to do Kalahari Highway, but a party split the main pitch in two, so did this instead. Awesome pitch. Ran the final scoop out all the way which felt great.

Nice, enjoyed the wall climbing on flatties with no gear. super chalky hold on the crux made it well arder!

Led P1 & 3. Forgot how good this is. Climbing much easier on top pitch on lead (and in daylight) but gear is a bit pokey.

Quite exciting to second pitch 2. Very good route.

Lead middle pitch. Did exactly what ksjs did but also got a rope caught in a crack so had horrific rope drag. V nice still though! Top groove felt v bold, no gear at all til the top.

An easy E3, but not one for keen E2 leaders; the groove is gearless and no path. We did this and The Moon on the same day; Kalahari deserves to be rated as an equal classic.
Ben1983 - AltLd O/S - 15/May/10
Great route. Make sure to approach the starting bulge of P2 direct from the L, rather than drifting into choss out right.

i led P2. great climb, very steady. i followed some chalk too far right from belay and wasted time on flakey / poor rock (the line is virtually directly above the belay [assuming you belay at the bottom of the corner / groove] and then moves right on obvious holds). when you step right (crux) after the rising traverse make sure you get some gear in at the bottom of the groove as this is gearless. the slab is no romp. top pitch done in near dark, nice moves.
