[Alex Messenger and co on the final ridge before the summit of the Mönch (4,107m), 2 kb]4107m. Probably the shortest route in the Bernese Oberland and definatly the easiest way to bag a 4000 er. A short glacier traverse brings you to the foot of the ridge where straightforward climbing takes you the full length of the ridge, get the early train from the valley as this is a busy route. The final section can be corniced, so remain on the South side. This climb backs on the eiger summit and the views are breathtaking.

As a descent after climbing the Nollen Spur. Very difficult as it was too late in the day and the snow was soft

Climbed on our ski touring trip. We saw somebody start an avalanch down the steep face to the R of the ridge when we were going up - luckily the managed to get out of the top of it before they went all the way to the glacier.

My first Alpine adventure.Stuck in the Monch hut for 3 days and 2 nights, waiting for the snow to stop! Even the guides did not go up after that dump. We went down very depressed, but that was my first alpine lesson. Fantastic experience.
