Unique climbing. Another of Nesccliffe's perfect routes.

After the early section that contains some fine climbing you reach what feels a very claustrophobic position at 10 metres. This position can be escaped only by completing the crux sequence, but it is protected by the final and only bit of fixed gear on the route, a blade peg.
The crux sequence is quite long and bouldery (4metres at sustained 6c) and consists (for me) of 6 precise foot moves and 4 hand moves. All rounded off with a launch for the rounded break which goes best with a mantle, there is no reverse, you either complete the moves or fall off.
The route description defines this as hold less but is not true, there are holds. They are just not well defined or pronounced with lots of choice for all sizes of climber.
I belayed Patrick on this 2 years ago and I had no realistic desire to lead this one. That was until a couple of weeks ago and I needed this climb to complete all the corners in the main climbing area.
Nesscliffe continues to entice me with it’s treasures.
Thanks to Dan for belaying me and other members of the wrekin mountaineering club for letting me interrupt their session to give me their support in fading light.

Suddenly poured with rain just before i got to the break below the peg making the top section a little scary. Luckily all the pockets stayed dry n i didnt fall.
