First session of year. Climbed in dark with a powerful headtorch. Very wet on Arete. Damp and dirty at top.

Makes me realize how incompetent and nieve I was when I first lead this. Not a good first vs. But... I really liked it. Bold and run out with dirty holds all the way. But good gear keeps popping up so keep moving off it. A carm leader needed. Great.

Nice climb, after finishing it I decided it was Argonaut. I just started at the bottom and got to the top, at one point I had to decide whether to continue to head left after placing some gear and climb the HVS, but chose to follow the most obvious line which was Argonaut.

The first 10-20ft doesnt appear to have much pro .. and it's still dirty.
But climbed it anyway .. and actually it's not bad at all. Really enjoyed the route (a love climbing aretes) - the gear felt a bit sparse but that added to the whole feel of the climb. The face at half height looked intimidating from the ground (where does the gear go?) so when I got there I just took my time and used the arete (careful not to actually climb into the groove) and choose good footholds on the face.

Climbed about 10 feet up and gave up .. earth on most of the rock surfaces. apart from one piece of pro (behind flake) couldn't really see any obvious pro placements over the next 6 feet or so. Big holds covered with a few inches of earth and plants. Not nice. It looks like it hasn't been climbed in decades let alone years.
UPDATE: I don't think it's as bad as I painted it .. maybe it was just particulary dirty that day? Will be back to climb this.
