Bivvied on the Glacier du Piece (as bivvying on the ridge would have committed me to downclimbing). The approach required concentration but was alright. The face was nicely climable until about 2/3 up when it degenerated into soft powder snow on loose rock. The headwall was a bit stiff! Great climb in a beautiful setting though. Decided not to downclimb due to issues on way up - descended Pigne normal route instead - not ideal for soloing but turned out OK this time.
