It rained for most of the climb and the last pitch was a waterfall!

I led the 1st, 3rd and 4th pitches. 1st pitch was moderate and not too easy or too scary. Bomber sling pro at the "roofy" section. 3rd pitch was very short and more of a scramble. 4th pitch was good fun and longer- about 35 m. We did manage to get one of our pitches wrong (too short we think) and ended up running out of rope by the pinnacle so Gareth led a HS "quick" section to get us back on track. It was, however, incredibly polished and pretty worrying with virtually no gear placements available! All in all, a very nice climb and good introduction to multipitch.

super cold and windy day, slippery rock, had the whole place to ourselves, saw SAR helicopter fly past (not realising it was going to the aid of a friend of ours) then had a long abseil descent with one headtorch after dark as normal descent looked treacherous with snow and ice.

Great climb, first time out as a pair with my son Chris, superb day even though a bit wet and a little slippery. Got stuck behind 2 x uni groups who were a little slow, ended up doing the decent in the dark.

A tremendous day. Glorious Spring sunshine, warm in the sun, cool out of it, views as far as you could see. Lovely climb, lovely sticky rock. Climbed in Boots except for Yellow Slab. The climb up to the Pinnacle is 'classic old trad' not too hard, nice belay stances. The Yellow Slab doesn't fit the rest of the route, it is smoother although a delicate balance gets you up it and friction is sound. Getting a nut and a friend into the little crack makes the final moves much easier. Cracking day.

Lots of patches of thick ice on the approach and descent. The climb was in perfect condition though. The slab pitch on pitch 4 is suffering a bit from polish. Thomson's chimney was fun - I would recommend wearing a rucsac as it makes the pitch much more enjoyable.

As part of the BMC student safety seminar, alternated 'leads' with another student called Ian, but had to be on top rope that was set up by an instructor who we belayed to the top of each pitch.
Lovely day out though and we did a 'Severe' variation on the first two pitches.

Our first big-mountain climb! Took the yellow slab and Thomsons chimney too!
No-chalk Nailer - AltLd - 25/Aug/07 with Humpty Dangler
Perfect introduction to the big mountain experience. Multiple pitches of easy climbing, with marvellous views. The downside is the heavy traffic; on a sunny day in August you will be sharing your belay stance with up to three other climbers, many of them obvious novices to outdoor climbing. One or two of these were absolutely terrified; their partners should have known better than bring them up such a high and exposed climb without adequate preparation. Two pitches offer a challenge but are easily avoided. The slab behind the pinnacle requires balance on very polished holds, wheras the final chimney and off-width crack is a bit more physical. A very large hex came in handy to protect a step up onto a high and polished foothold. Topping out and belaying in the sun with the scenery was a real pleasure.
