185m, 6 pitches. From the car park walk down the track to the camp site, cross the stile behind the farm houe and turn right. Walk down the track and cross another stile. Shortly afterwards a smaller path bears of left towards Tryfan Bach. Follow the smaller path to Tryfan Bach, but rather than continuing up the valley, climb the slope on the opposite side onto the Heather Terrace. Follow the Heather Terrace along Tryfan's flank, after around a kilometre you will reach a boulder with SPR etched onto it. This marks the start of Second Pinnacle Rib. Ignore this and continue on to a second boulder with FPR etched onto it - this is the start of the route (SH 664 592).

A note on yellow slab, it is well protegible, takes one nut (two with a bit of engineering) at the base and a green BD cam fits well one of the pocket located half way (or maybe a TCU better). Then you reach good sling placements.

Lovely easy climbing throughout, did not feel like V.Diff for the most part. Yellow slab made tricky due to the level of polish. Tried the chimney but polish and rain made getting off the ground a farce. Finished up the rocks to the right which was far more enjoyable. Great fun!

Good climb - on pitch below yellow slab (Starting on the platform overlooking South Gully we followed the slab on the left (following the guys in front!) rather than trend rightward - good addition to the route up the slab - as tricky and more exposed than the yellow slab itself! - recommend

I led the 1st, 3rd and 4th pitches. 1st pitch was moderate and not too easy or too scary. Bomber sling pro at the "roofy" section. 3rd pitch was very short and more of a scramble. 4th pitch was good fun and longer- about 35 m. We did manage to get one of our pitches wrong (too short we think) and ended up running out of rope by the pinnacle so Gareth led a HS "quick" section to get us back on track. It was, however, incredibly polished and pretty worrying with virtually no gear placements available! All in all, a very nice climb and good introduction to multipitch.

A tremendous day. Glorious Spring sunshine, warm in the sun, cool out of it, views as far as you could see. Lovely climb, lovely sticky rock. Climbed in Boots except for Yellow Slab. The climb up to the Pinnacle is 'classic old trad' not too hard, nice belay stances. The Yellow Slab doesn't fit the rest of the route, it is smoother although a delicate balance gets you up it and friction is sound. Getting a nut and a friend into the little crack makes the final moves much easier. Cracking day.

Lots of patches of thick ice on the approach and descent. The climb was in perfect condition though. The slab pitch on pitch 4 is suffering a bit from polish. Thomson's chimney was fun - I would recommend wearing a rucsac as it makes the pitch much more enjoyable.

Our first big-mountain climb! Took the yellow slab and Thomsons chimney too!

Humpty Dangler 25/Aug/07 AltLd O/S

Perfect introduction to the big mountain experience. Multiple pitches of easy climbing, with marvellous views. The downside is the heavy traffic; on a sunny day in August you will be sharing your belay stance with up to three other climbers, many of them obvious novices to outdoor climbing. One or two of these were absolutely terrified; their partners should have known better than bring them up such a high and exposed climb without adequate preparation. Two pitches offer a challenge but are easily avoided. The slab behind the pinnacle requires balance on very polished holds, wheras the final chimney and off-width crack is a bit more physical. A very large hex came in handy to protect a step up onto a high and polished foothold. Topping out and belaying in the sun with the scenery was a real pleasure.
