First time on Shelterstone and it is a truly amazing experience. Found the last pitch hard, however, I have very little experience at the grade. Slowly learning to use my feet more. The chimney pitch was great although the exit was awkward. Top day out.

After getting out of the motor and into the wind I was all for going into the N. Corries but we slid our way up over the top to the Shelter Stone instead. It was sheltered as well, thankfully, the wind was stinging. Soloed the first 40m which was less than grade 1, except for a single move out left at grade 1 or 2, then Will led through the awkward red chimney. I did the next chimney to a memorable snow saddle belay, a lot of air beneath each foot. Two more pitches saw us at the top. The route had a mini crux on every pitch. The snow was soft as cotton wool and the ice low on the route was almost useless. On my chimney pitch I battered a big hex into a bomber location and apparently forgot to clip it! A fine route in a great location. The SMC give this route IV,5.
