Some thin ice and steep snow near the top made this a more serious PD than I expected. Five German climbers had fallen to their deaths a week before and I could understand why.

Nice mix of scrambling and crampon work. Summit is real airy. Little bit loose in places but more like scree than genuine risk of being hit by falling rock. Plenty of compact rock and large boulder scrambling.

Left Weissmies Hut at 4am. Summitted at 9:40am, and back at Weissmies Hut by 1:20pm. Ascended via the Lagginhorn Glacier, and decided to descend via the Lagginhorn Ridge. However, this was very long, and not very pleasant in descent, so we changed our minds and decided to cross the glacier on the way down too. Hol's first 4000m peak!

In descent after climbing the South ridge. Horribly loose and would not recommend it to anyone. Weather turned near the bottom and got soaked as well. About 2 hrs back to the mid-lift station.

Lost Heather's rucksack off the cliff when crossing the southern W ridge. Spent the day retrieving gear, including crampons from a ledge. Put up a new Hard Diff route ('Crampon Search') on smooth rock! Reckon that no-one has ever been up there before or will ever go up there again!

Straight off cable car and up. Exhausting! Good scrambling to be had and some interesting stuff near the top - bit icy so involved a touch of front-pointing. Good weather and nice view from the summit.

Loved this peak. Hardly anyone on it. Decent ice steps in it and quality scrambling. Smashing.

Straight up to Hohsass on lifts, then up ridge, very slow going due to not acclimatising properly, but i learnt a lot of lessons that day, mt first full 4000m, good weather, the final traverse to the summit block was very unnerving, on a thin track of unstable ice granules, and a huge drop!!, the summit was very small and exposed, but the views amazing. Very long and tiring descent, back to the hut for a sleepless night, thanks to some noisy, inconsiderate B******s !

My first 4000er, got altitude sickness, felt top snow climb was mega steep until the decent when I looked back up & realised it was not much more than a walk ! Rock ridge good fun. Loads of crevasses opend up on glacier that we didn't see during our alpine early start.
