The rock was wet, muddy and vegetated when we got there, not nice to climb, then it started raining heavily on the 3rd and probably hardest crux pitch, before the sentry box it was wet and dangerous and not fun so we bailed out.  4 abseils later and various bits of gear left behind we got down safe.  Definitely one to do, but when its dry and the route has had plenty of traffic. Some crag swag for the next people up it.

Epic day out - in all the right ways! 7km walk in and then an awesome climb on great rock. I led first 2 pitches, Matt Howard led 3&4 and Matt Hing led the crux pitches 5&6. Some really airey moves with incredible exposure. Awesome!

Not really fair to say alternate leads as I only led pitch 2. I've decided that Cairngorm Granite just isn't my style of climbing at all, far far too thuggy and reachy as hell when you're only 5'2"! Had to aid several points on the route. There was one point on pitch 3 where I just couldn't reach over the edge of anything and had to move right onto a ledge and then aid up an overhanging crack! By then I was so knackered that I had to rest on the rope when laybacking up to the knife edge. Pitch 3 was the crux for me. But I had to pull on the rope on the pitch 5 crux as I just couldn't reach anything useful to get my body weight over to the left and onto a ledge so I could get the jamming crack, desperate! Thought the nicest part of the route was the corner below the crux, really nice climbing. Some mental exposure in places! We just finished by the winter line as I was fed up of having to aid reachy moves and we were getting eaten alive by midgies. First 2pitches a bit wet in places, in fact, whole route was a bit on the dampish side.

it was extremely wet and the first 2 pitches were not enjoyable at all. The rest of the climb was fantastic though- even in the wet. it was at least VS at points because of the weather and i imagine it must be at least on the harder end of severe in good weather.

Great route with amazing exposure. A shame the difficult sections on the upper half of the route are so avoidable by traversing out right. Plenty of evidence that people had done that. Shame as they would have missed the best bits. Keep to the crest as much as possible. Just a couple of tricky moves with one tricky step up with a hand jamming hold. Lost count of the number of stuck cams on teh route!

I lead pitchs 1 and 5. In my honest opinion the crux of the route was on pitch 5 where you have to do some crazy laybacking/ crack jamming from standing on a knife edge flake with 200m (ish) of air directly below you. Very exposed!!! Not a severe grade move!!! Awesome day out (but very long :)

Brilliant!. Even in June we had do a snow/ice pitch to get to the start. Andy led that cutting steps needed for us in our trainers. Used pointy stones as ice axes... Man the tool maker survived yet again! The climb proper was superb. I remember on the top we swilled the three beers I had secretly lugged in my sack up the hill and the route in unusually sweltering Scottich mountain weather. Snowbuntings flitted around us on the top.
