Led P1. Had intended to do regular route, but couldn't find any gear in upper gully, so waited for team to finish on RH, and belayed in the pegs. Mark led P2, which was steep towards the top, but had good ice and pro. Abseiled off at this point.

First pitch was thin, not enough ice to take screws, so unprotected and hence my lead. Main pitch looked a bit cruddy (so my lead again) but was actually thick water ice all the way, great condition and well protected (5 screws!) - not steep and only III in these conditions. Pitch 3 (Carmen) was steep snow with a short ice step. I took a variation to pitch 4, on the right, to take in another short ice fall (more like IV). Two more pitches to the top. Too tired to finish up Tower Ridge, and couldn't work out the right place to traverse to Broad Gully, so abbed off - a mistake, as it took us 3 hours!
