I agree entirely with the comment by matthomas79 below. Anyone who thinks this route is easy for the grade has not climbed the correct line. You need to climb the right side where the slab is thinnest. That way it's a good solid top end HVS 5A.

Is this really E1? I can't decide. Gentle (and lovely) 5a moves at a bold but not dangerous height above a nest of small wires. It feels like escape to the arete would be easy at most points but still a worthwhile and fun route.

Made myself stay towards the right well away from the arete, which from doing Left Edge later makes this route much more difficult. When I got to 3/4 hight I used a little of the right arete, dont think this made much difference as I was way above gear, the right hand side has way less gear than the left. Its amazing people find Left Edge harder than this. I reckon you have to stick to the right for the full E1 tick.

The crack at mid-height can swallow as many small nuts as you can carry, chucked 4 good nuts in there. You might deck if you fall from just after the crux but once you are there the horizontal break can take a cam. Didn't use any of the holds on the arete but was on the left hand side of the slab, between the tree and the arete.

many comments about how easy this is. I didn't find it easy. Probably due to the fact that I climbed it without any of the holds I'd used on Left Edge which meant veering right on the upper blank section and a horrible slopey mantel. There are two possible lines on the slab, one nearer Left Edge that is easier. This may be the reason for perceived overgrading??
