Route harder than expected (bare and icy) and Reg broke a crampon.

We left the hut at 2.30a.m, summit at 8.30a.m. Very cold at around 4a.m but warmed up when we reached the sun on the ridge above the Sattel. The ridge was a mixture of narrow snow aretes(no belays) and awkward scrambling on good rock. It was deceptively long and exposed. We flicked the rope around spikes for belays having no rock gear and anxious to get a move on. There was nothing in the way of old pegs or slings so it felt quite 'pure' which was good. Much harder overall than Mont Blanc or Dom.

First 4000er - highest in the Swiss Alps - what a day - 7 hours just to get to the Silbersattel - fun ascent from there up the rock wall to the summit - peak bagged Nordend in the same trip - a tough day but one of the best ever

4:30am start, broke trail, did a variation to the standard route via a beautiful, steep, snow crest.

Alpine start 2am, from the Monte Rosa hut, (2795m) for 7 hour ascent to the summit of the Dufourspitz,(4634m). Excellent long rocky exposed summit ridge. Returnd to Monte Rosa hut for a 2nd night. Total time around 13 hours.

On skis, turned back due to high wind and cold. Gizzy suffered frost bite on face, I suffered with nip on a few finger tips and foot. Blimey it was cold.
Thin cover, had to drag Gizzy out of a big dark hole that appeared under her.

PD+ definitely. Incomparable with most PD routes and we've done quite a few. Fantastic mountain, loved it, but found it tough, great ridge from sattel. A long long way.

Cold and Knackering! A bit of a plod at first but the long rocky summit ridge was brilliant and well worth the effort.
