Ticklists: Scrambles in Snowdonia - Steve Ashton.

Repeat exactly 1 year to the day! Felt easier today despite winds. Brilliant line.

Such a long walk for 10 min of easy scrambling, grade 2 at the most, disappointed to say the the least.....

Somewhere between Summer and Winter conditions - A thin layer of snow and a little ice on the rocks. Not quite enough to bother with getting the crampons and axes out!

Loved it. The traverse is absolutely sublime, an audacious line to weave a scramble through such a face of massive exposure. Technically steady - all the holds are there and positive - but the exposure really gives it an edge.

A really good route with much exposure. Shame it's not longer. Cracked block is the crux. Climbed in big boots. Had a dip in the lake afterwards!

Great fun. Moved together on rope, placing gear as we went. Really good positions and some great moves.

Really hot day - slog to the summit once we gained the spur.

Mixed soloing, moving together and pitching practice. Took all difficulties head on. Had to downclimb most exposed section to retrieve a hex that Mrs MB could get out! Best bits are the cracked tower, exposed traverse and some weirdly knobbly rock at the top. Trail Mag say grade 2, but if you take the cracked tower head on (you can avoid it) and add the exposure on the traverse (which you can't avoid), it is definitely worth a grade 3. I was glad to have a rope.

Easy moves but some massive exposure which justifies the grade 3 status. A great little scramble, but over all too soon.
