βeta: Like all ice it can change and be harder or easier. When we did it it was hard and the guide Terry Taylor said WI5. It was steep. The last pitch in particular. I very nearly pucked when I topped out. Just checked the 1992 Soleymieux guidebook III 4+ to 5-. Aren't grades funny. For decades Heather Wall was HS and it's now VS4c and Sea of Vapours went from the hardest ice climb in the world to WI4! Or something like that. | βeta? | |
