Went to do Cirrus but found it hadn't formed at all so wondered round to Taxus. Climbed as a three. Started at 1500! Icefall finish was thin, but doable. Just about managed the last pitch without running out of rope! Descent down the ridge was interesting in the dark. Overall, great day out.

Brilliant route. Felt relatively straightforward for a IV. Some windslab on approach but can weave way through boulders with relative safety. Exit pitch from top was ok. Screws, the odd wire and hex handy.

Lots of traffic on route due to a late start, over an hour wait at the base after the snow plod, then same again on the 1st stance, lots of debris coming down - painful! top pitches exciting and a great finish to a cold day!

Went on a Friday to avoid the crowds, but it was heaving. A stupidly fast walk up put us second on the route though. Nice route, fat ice, seemed closer to 3 than 4 in these conditions.

Done in 3 pitches. I led the middle one up stonking ice which took solid screws, very good time to try out my new leashless set up. Rob led the last pitch which had had almost all the ice knocked off. This left it as a tricky mixed pitch with little gear but in a brilliant exposed position.

Excellent route and a wonderful day. Clear blue skies and good ice. Two ice pitches in hte lower section. Ice slightly brittle in places on the icefall finish, but generally good.
