meandering and disapointing

This was a bit of a learning experience! Snow conditions not great, slow first two pitches. Got as far as the icefall at the bottom of the upper gully, about 5pm. Ice brittle, good weather turned to impossible spindrift, also no guidebook so despite figuring route from bottom didn't know how far/long to the top. Decided to back off - 2 and a bit pitches downclimbed (traverse/no decent anchors) and 4 abseils. Back to corrie floor at 1030pm. Edinburgh 5am on snowy A9.
