Starting in a crevasse on the right bank of the Mer de Glace approx 300mts South of the point where Vire des Guides Echelles ascends the lateral morraine. Very strong foehn wind kept us out of the high mountains and this relatively sheltered spot offers several single pitches with easy walk off. Despite high temperatures and sugary surface ice, pick placements were solid and it was easy to protect with ice screws. A good spot to play when strong Southerly winds would otherwise keep you in the valley. Only 20 minutes walk up the glacier from the bottom of the ladders at Montenvers.
