Pleasant Peak © richie934

Crag features

Ideal for introducing novices to outdoor climbing, also has an E1 grade climb. The rocks in the area of Pleasant Peak are south facing. They are generally sound enough for both lead climbing and top roping; although, care must be taken over the occasional loose block and flake. The climbable faces range in height from low level bouldering to a number of multi-pitch routes and in difficulty from moderate scrambles to extreme cliffs. Both of these factors, in conjunction with its proximity to Mount Pleasant Airfield make it a good place for the beginner or the experienced climber, particularly in the evenings.

Approach notes

The peak and crags are approximately 3.5km north of Mount Pleasant Airfield. Access is gained via the road leading north from the airfield to the old quarry. Parking is next to the old quarry at grid reference 981618. The carpark is no more that 5 minutes’ walk from the crags.
