Kit Hill Quarry

Climbs 39 – Rocktype Granite – Altitude 300m a.s.l – Faces W

Crag features
Very overgrown but worth a visit. With a carpet bombing of Agent Orange, and lots of cleaning, could be a Cornwall-style Froggatt, with routes up to 50ft including some excellent slabs. Presently these are hidden in the (over)growth and seepage. You're advised to take a brush. Good routes: Purple Haze (E2 5b)kit hill killer (E2 6a) and Whole Lotta Shakin (E3 6a). Also clean slabby bouldering up to about English 6a. Plenty of lower grade climbs for the beginner too

Approach notes
From the A390, turn N at a sign to "Kit Hill". (From B3257, turn S.) Turn W uphill through gate marked "Kit Hill" and keep going uphill past two car parks on the L to a park on the R.

Walk down track to the quarry itself (8 mins). if taking groups contact kit hill countryside warden 01579 370030

Climbed The Green Physic today - a worthwhile addition to the crag and the proposed grade seems about right.
