Cawfields Crag

Climbs 2 – Rocktype Sandstone (hard) – Altitude ? – Faces ?

Crag features
The crag is half a kilometre long and, in places, a good 20 metres high. Unfortunately it is broken, vegetated and has received little attention, there are more lines available despite this. The crag is very similar in character to the other Whin Sill crags and also has the Roman Wall running along the top. The impressive quarried section above the pool has, as far as is known, been sensibly ignored.

Description and routes taken from the 2004 guidebook to the area.

Volunteer to moderate Cawfields Crag
We rely on volunteers to moderate their local crags. You would check updates and approve climbs added to the database. It's a very easy job, and all you need is a guidebook and an hour or two each month. [ read more ]
