Crag features

Information about this crag comes from the CAWA guide May 2002.

Shark Rock is a small granite crag, located on the north side of the Helena River valley in Glen Forrest. Some routes are bolted and a rope is recommended

Approach notes

To get there, drive to the junction of Jellicoe Road and Glen Forrest Drive and then head east along Jellicoe Road. After about 300m there is a driveway on the right with a sign marked Jellicoe Place. Drive on 150m and park on the side of the road where the sealed road ends. Walk down the Jellicoe Place driveway and cross onto the fire break right of the driveway. Continue along the firebreak parallel to the driveway with a dam on the right. At the power pole continue straight on parallel to the power lines for 100m (Do not go down the hill). At the next fork turn right and head west down the hill. Turn left at the blackboy after 30m and follow the vague trail past a small quarry on the left to the boulders. The walk-in is about 10 minutes from the road.

Note: Although the crag is on public land, the driveway and some of the surrounding land on the walk-in is privately owned. The owners have been consulted and do not have a problem with climbers accessing the crag via their land however they request that climbers do not park their cars anywhere within the Jellicoe Place driveway or on the firebreak. Park further up Jellicoe Road where there is plenty of room. Please be considerate of the landowners and residents by not making too much noise and not leaving rubbish about the place. Do not light fires.
