Crag features

Bishop Hill. This hill forms the continuation of the dolerite escarpment above Loch Leven. Has lots of extended boulder problems and short routes of all grades up to 6b.

Notes -

A picturesque spot for a hike with excellent views out over Loch Leven. The rock, unfortunately, is almost entirely coated with a thick crust of lichen which makes climbing all but the easiest problems impossible without undertaking some serious cleaning.

Evidence of old pitons in place. Many lines look like they could be bouldered but are rather highball in nature (approx. 6-8m), often situated above a steep, grassy slope, and probably relatively low in grade.

The most promising lines for development are around the grassy 'bowl' area towards the west end, and the obvious, large square face in the middle of the crag, seen upon approach.

Approach notes

Lies above woodland north-east of Scotlandwell.
