Scurran of Well, Ben Rinnes © Carmen Elphick
Ben Rinnes is the dominating summit of Moray and is a very popular hillwalk. The views, as might be expected, are extremely extensive, taking in much of northeast Scotland.
Ben Rinnes Crag is the prominent granite tor, 1200m northwest of the summit of Ben Rinnes. Two mid grade routes, and one serious hard route (possibly unrepeated?).
The most direct route to the crag is from parking behind Benrinnes Distillery, up the broad ridge of Baby's Hill. Alternatively, the very obvious tourist path to the summit goes up the clear eastern ridge from parking on the Beatshach (turn right 4 miles up Glen Rinnes from Dufftown). The crag can be seen from the summit.
went to climb there today! definitely recommended if you're climbing hard. lots of good looking lines on the solid granite, really nice crag with awesome views. there's great bouldering potential on the smaller tors further along. Definitely for sloper afficianado's CaelanB - 20/Jun/15 |
