Approach notes

By train, the closest train station is Shinanokawakami Station. There is a public bus but it drops you off about 5kms downhill from the campground. There are two taxis in the area (0267 97 2231) and it will cost roughly 6,000 yen one way to the campground.

By car, 3 hours from Tokyo, Chuo highway towards Nagoya, exit at Nagasaka IC, turn left at the stop light after the toll booth continue for 500m. At the stop light with 7-11 on right-hand side, turn left (local road 28) and continue straight on for around 15km until the T junction where you will merge to the left onto local road 141. After merging on 141, another 5km brings you to Nobeyama. There is a sign indicating "Kawakami mura"; make a right turn here and shortly you will cross the railroad tracks. Continue on along the road for another 5-10 minutes where you will see another sign indicating "Kawakami mura" as you come down a long hill that rounds to the left. Turn right at the sign and follow this road to the T junction. Nana's Supermarket will be on your right. At Nana's Supermarket turn right and drive for another 10 minutes until a sign above the road indicates "Megurimedaira Campground" to the right, you have to be going slow because the sign is AT THE ROAD where you have to turn right. Follow this road up the hill and wind around to T junction, turn right after 1 km continuing across the bridge and back to the left (DO NOT go thru the gates to the temple looking structure) keep going thru the lettuce fields up thru the trees to the very end of the road, grab the parking ticket and you have arrived.
