Approach notes

Heading south on the B5289 Borrowdale Road turn left for Thornythwaite Farm just after the Stonethwaite junction, 300m on the right is a gravel car park. From here on a clear day you can see Skyline proudly on the summit of Rosthwaite. Walk back down the tarmac road and take a gate into the field on your right, follow this track for 10mins untill the gill on the left levels out close to the path, leave the main path and cross the beck where easiest then follow any faint path you can find steeply up either side of Dry gill for about 20mins till you pick up a path running horizontally at the gill’s termination, continue 5/10 mins onto a short gravelly section heading to the tarn. Where Rottenstone Gill ends, take a sharp right here and B line for the crag (Total 1h - 1.3 miles)

There is a short scramble to the summit which looks far more intimidating from a distance than it actually is.
