Joyous jamming! © Fiend

Crag features

The most northerly point on the island. A beautiful wild spot, with a good range of routes. The rock is of the varying quality typical of Skye's dolerite sea-cliffs, ranging from very good to crumbling choss.

The big north-facing walls beneath the Lookout are relatively popular and home to classics such as Whispering Crack, but the single-pitch routes on the north-east side of the Headland are also worthwhile for those willing to walk a little further. For sea stack afficionados, there are four to be climbed here, three of which require a swim.

Access Advice

Some areas on the Headland are home to nesting bird colonies.

The routes around Middle Stack require stakes for access and belays, which are not in place at the time of writing (September 2021).
