The Great Door on Yewbarrow © Crispy Haddock
Situated in ancient woodland outside Grange-over-Sands. The crag is rarely climbed and is limestone of average quality with unpolished holds, is quite steep with a number of roofs. There are several bolted routes on the main crag with smaller bouldering areas scattered through the woods nearby. The photos showing wastwater nearby are of yewbarrow fell, this crag is yewbarrow woods.
Access is open, with plenty of dog walkers using the footpath under one of the overhangs. Parking is best in Grange itself.
It is found off Eden Mount Road. Head in to the woods through the gap in the wall and you reach the cliff about 50m along the path to the right.
There is not a lot of climbs, but they are a good intro to limestone. All are top-ropable. brokenbanjo - 19/Dec/11 |
