Pilastro Lomasti (on the way down) © Dr Toph
Striking 200m pillar of pale rock clearly visible from the valley floor. Made from outstandingly featured gneiss, with thin technical face climbing on pockets and crimps being most typical. Stays in the shade until afternoon. Generally well bolted, but pay some mind to Lomasti doing the first ascents with big boots and old trad gear. Abseil descents (4 x 50m double ropes).

From the Torino - Aosta autostrada exit at Verres and continue through Arnad. Follow signs for Machaby up the hill and right (Park). A very good path starts just below the parking lot and weaves up past a chapel and agro-turismo (Signed for P.Lomasti) until after the last house, another sign indicates a right turn onto a small track which leads to the base. 45mins. In decent its quicker to take the direct footpath that starts at the ruins by the paved path, and cuts down steeply to the chapel.
