Rocktype Limestone
Altitude 102m a.s.l
Faces SE
20 to 30 metre high limestone crag, running along the River Angles.
The rock is highly pocketed limestone, very solid and well travelled (but not polished). Climbs are mostly off-vertical to vertical, though there are some roofs on the harder routes. Equipped to the normal French high standard with glued stable bolts ("broches").
Grades from F3 to F8b; F5-6b and F7a-7c climbers particularly well catered for.
Makes a good stop-over for southern France / northern Spain. Beware of the clouds of mosquitoes in warm still summer conditions, though!
Topo available from the Tabac in Angles-sur-l'Anglin (lat/long 46.69547, 0.88561).
Easy access: park at the end of the track to the south, next to a toilet block and information sign (lat/long: 46.66368, 0.90601) gained from Puygirault.
Do not park at the base of the crag.
