Helvete ("Hell") is an ice/mixed-crag formed in a old river canyon, approx 500m long and sidewalls reaching up to meters. The crag contains all kind of formations and changes a lot during the season. The crag has been temporarely used since the 70s, basically as a training field and by groups where beginners (easy to set up top rope) and experienced climb side by side. Due to the history no first acsents should be claimed. And due to the big changes in ice conditions during the season grading makes little sense, except that the crag covers short routes from very easy to quite hard.
Avalanche risk caused by the steep sidewalls above most climbs should be considered.
Parking nearby road (small parking lot). 10 min hike along a marked tourist path down to the canyon (200-300m). Be aware of steep and possibly icy steps down the last part. Also be aware of big curtains that my break and fall down on the path through the canyon.
