Crag features

Rocabella sits high on the far end of the Las Encantadas escarpment, just above the Rocabella Restaurant and Hotel. The crag is an excellent addition to El Chorro providing a variety of quality easier climbs. It is particularly suited to families with smaller children; many of the easier routes having masses of holds to accommodate all reaches and the base is a pleasant spot to hang out.

The main face (North) gets shade for most of the day and is high and exposed so not good on cool and/or windy days, but brilliant when the temperature soars. The rock will dry quickly after rain and does not seep, but there is no chance of climbing in the rain.

Approach notes

From El Chorro, follow the road to Valle de Abdalajis for 2.9km. At a large stone with a letterbox on it and sign to 'Sendero Sierra de Huma', turn left up a track. Follow this track until you reach a steep section past buildings on the right. As it turns back on itself you will see the crag up on the left and parking on the right.

Access Advice

Rocabella is located on private land - please do nothing to jeopardise access.

the turning for the crag from the EL Chorro road is signposted "Sendero de la Huma" and has a walking trail mark. Do not take the road that goes best the restaurant - while you can see the crag from it it doesnt connect. A lovely little spot - good for a family day out
