Crag features

This north facing crag overlooks the Couze Pavin on the downstream side of the river (orographic right). It is in the trees, and mosquito prone, and as a result is a bit green, and could probably do with some gardening. The crag is a granite slab, interspersed with lines of quartz, which make for handy breaks for both hands and feet. Single pitch climbs, mostly in the lower French grades. The climbs are protected by ring bolts, similar to many of the granite crags in the area. Climbs vary in height between 15m and 20m.

Approach notes

Take the A75 motorway, and exit at Issoire (junctions 11,12,13 or 14). Once in Issoire, head west on D996 towards Perrier, then take the D26 towards Saint Floret. Drive through Saint Floret, remaining on the D26, which will take you up the Couze (river) Pavin valley. Park on the left, 3km outside of Saint Floret, in a picnic area by the river Pavin, next to an old stone bridge over the river. Cross the bridge on foot and turn immediately left to walk along the river on the orographic right (downstream) for about 200m. The crag lies about 20m back from the river, in the trees.
