Crag features

On the East side of Tanygrisiau reservoir is a two-tiered quarry of very hard microgranite type rock. Some of the walls are of excellent quality being compact and solid, other areas of the quarry contain a lot of shattered rock presumably from blasting. These areas demand respect as they often have large unstable blocks, flakes and piles of loose rock on ledges. A fine place to be late afternoon/early evening. Plenty of scope for further development. There is a great blog piece with photos here -

Approach notes

Park in marked parking area on A496 just South of junction for Tanygrisiau. Cross river by footbridge at SH688446 and follow public footpath SW under pylons to crag - about 1km. Alternatively Park at head of the lake by the cafe and walk round past hydro power station.
