Montestrutto Valle d'Aosta, ITALY
Climbs 128 – Rocktype Gneiss – Altitude 272m a.s.l – Faces SW
Very popular roadside crag due to excellent rock, a very wide grade spread and the adjacent park containing picnic benches, volleyball courts and a bar! Not a place to go for tranquility, but rather a good social time with all the family. The climbing tends to be technical and crimpy. The slabs around the bar are popular with beginners, while the big wall to the far right has some very good, long hard routes with interesting features. Many routes need a 60m rope.
Ample parking by the park entrance. Driving is an easy hour from Torino, up the A5 (Aosta) then turn off onto the SS26 at Quincinetto, drive back south for a couple of miles and look for the cluster of powerlines.
