Ekne is about 1h15 drive north of Trondheim. A 30 minute forest walk takes you to a selection of high quality bolted crags. Plenty of routes at all levels in a fabulous setting, overlooking the fjord; particularly in the afternoon as the sun passes. Quite rare in Norway in that there are plenty of routes at a low grade (Norwegian 4/5).
Most routes are single pitch, and can often be hard in the grade.
Drive north along the E6 and look out for the exit to Ekne. Follow a dirt track to cut across to the main road through Ekne, which in turn leads to another dirt track. Follow this all the way to the barrier. Park near the barrier and leave some change in the toll box.
Continue to walk along the track past the barrier for approx. 5-10 minutes, where the vehicle track forks left and a footpath forks right. Follow the footpath and take any of the tracks leading on out of the pretty gardens next to a couple of red cabins. The tracks will lead to one of the crags. All crags are marked with a wooden sign. Explore around a bit!
