Folly Cove - minging © Tom Last

Crag features

This large and deeply eroded cove lies between the harder outliers of Carn Barra and Fox Promontory. Dutchman's Zawn bites deep into the northern extremity of the cove, while the routes in Folly Cove itself present a series of long, open, and challenging climbs above a dramatic boulder beach. The rock is often friable and requires careful handling in places.

Approach notes

From the car park in Porthwarra, take the road to the right, up the hill and through a gate. At the first left bend, carry straight-on along a footpath. The path leads across open country and arrives at a distinctive wall made up of huge rocks. About 120m beyond the stone wall, a rusty capstan on the right marks the beginning of Folly Cove.
