Some excellent highballs surrounded by a scattering of boulders. Updated Jan 2017 following new routes and claims which make the crag almost complete. Clearly visible, on the horizon, across the valley, on the walk in to Slipstones and shares the same quality of rock and uncompromising clarity of line on the existing routes.
Marked as Twin Standing Stones on the OS Landranger 99 and part of the Swinton Estate. Park in the layby, near the old red telephone box, on the road to Slipstones. Cross the footbridge and follow the old cart track uphill, between the grassland and the open moor. Follow this track, through several gates, skirting south along the brow of the hill to within sight of the crag, in about 30 minutes.
Swinton Estate has marked the old access, at the bottom of the hill below the Slipstones parking, as prohibited; please follow the described approach.
Light brushing was all that was needed. Good to go now as of Nov 2016. The routes are well worth the walk.

Main problems probably need a quick brush on a dry day. Paul Clarke - 24/Nov/16 |
