Crag features

A large obvious and prominent quartz band makes the Penally Cave crag easy to identify when approached as described in the access notes. The routes are accessed by abseil (stakes newly placed 21/6/15). For Tinpenally and Ziggy Zagger, at low tide and in calm conditions, it may be possible to belay on the lower barnacle covered ledge. Otherwise move right and belay in a niche. For what3words, a belay is possible above the high water line but care should be taken to avoid the swell.

Approach notes

The Penally Saddle Crag and Penally Cave Crag are easily accessed from the car park in Boscastle. Walk past the cottages towards Penally Point. The path takes you to the col between Penally Hill and Penally Point.

Head south west to find Penally Saddle Crag (not obvious). Head north east to find Penally Cave Crag. The wide quartz band running horizontally across the crag is a very striking feature. Penally Cave is just to the right and is also easy to locate.
