Rocktype Quartzite
Altitude 115m a.s.l
Faces S
Great quality rock face. 5 to 10 degree overhanging slab about 50m wide and 10m high. Only the last 2m is covered in litchen, but this is where the gradient become easiest. A lot of potential for some good, hard routes both on Trad and (if the conservation and land owner permit) sport routes. In the bottom of the valley so it is very sheltered to the wind. In the shade all day, but due to the overhanging nature does not get very wet.
BEWARE when setting up at the top, a lot of the seamingly solid boulders are not as solid as they first look. However, there is plenty of options there to rig up top ropes etc...
Leaving MPA towards Onion range, come up over Pleseant Peak and down Snake Hill. Park by the cattle grid or in one of the laybys half way up the next hill. walk 200m up the stream until you see the crag. Once at the bottom there is an easy scramble to the top by walking to the left of the crag and coming up a gulley.
Access is required via the land owner, Neil Bowland. £2.50pppd.
