Rocktype Sandstone (soft)
Altitude 53m a.s.l
Faces NW
A small (5 m high) wall of sandstone in an area of parkland in Runcorn. One wall faces N, the other dirtier one W. Best in early spring before nettles and brambles take hold at the base. Beware broken glass at bottom and top. No doubt climbed on for years, mostly by local kids, and at some point in the past several holds have been chipped. Not included in Cheshire & Merseyside Sandstone.
Park at top of Stonehills Lane, then a few seconds walk.
Given a makeover by Pete Trewin & Neil Griffiths Jan 2020. Descriptions & topos added showing Andy Popp routes from 2013. Also developed Tramway Wall (200 yds along path) - descriptions/topos to follow. Good, quick-drying rock with car park adjacent and within easy walking distance of town centre, rail station and buses Pekkie - 09/Feb/20 |
