The Bala stones sit below the hillside at Creigiau Llwyn Gwern on the noerth side of the Bala Dolgellau road. The nearest village is LLanuwchlyn. The crag above the boulders can easily be seen from the road as can one of the large boulders. There are 6 main boulders the larges being some 8m high landings are grassy but some need a mat. Problems range from 4-8A
A track turns off the main roat at the house of Rhyd y Drain which is down and west of the boulder field. follow the track past the house and park at the point where the track forks left. Pull up as tight as possible on the verge. The main track then continues straight on along an old embankment parallel to the main road and over through a gate. After a few meters a sheep trail leads off left across the stream and then contours eastward up the hillside. The boulders become visible again about 10-15 minutes.
