Rocktype Granite
Altitude 2143m a.s.l
Faces all
Huge south face with prominent smooth buttress to about 1/2 height. North face is even bigger! Gully leading to Col on west side gives access to only route so far.
It's about 6km, but about 6 hours! on the most rugged of trails. Local tourist guide refused if with a Modern Land Cruiser! We drove ourselves, 2 walking and placing/removing boulders, in a mark I Land Cruiser (vehicle of the Bedouin). Camp at the abandoned village where you will find water in old cisterns.
In 2009 power lines were being installed so the road may have improved.
The people in the village at the bottom are all from the Al Ghamdi tribe. When we went they welcomed us in for breakfast, but they recognised Ray Timm from his recce's over the last few years.
