On the top of a hill near the village of Saint Barthelemy de Vals, a collection of around 20 boulders offer enough for at least a day or two of bouldering. The grades range from f4A to f8A and the problems form 3 circuits.
Although there is plenty of problems at a reasonable height, a few boulders reach 6-7m height. Always check the downclimb before going up! Most have bolts on top and can be top roped or a rop threaded to get down.
All problems are indicated with Font-like arrows on the boulders. a normal arrow indicates a stand start. An arrow with a horizontal bar underneath indicates a sit start. There is also a decent online topo: http://www.yadugaz07.com/pdf/TopoRochesQuiDansent.pdf
Having spoken to some locals the grades on the harder problems (whites) aren't always accurate, I've tried to use the grades they gave me here.
NB: The area isn't just used by boulderers (I'll spare the usual warnings about respecting others and the environment, I'm sure you've read them all by now), don't be surprised if you see people with pendulums or giving thanks to the spirits, the area has a reputation as being a centre of "high telluric activity". Seriously. At Christmas and New Year, fairies meet at this spot and make the boulders shake. Grades may vary at those times.
From Valence or Lyon follow the N7 to Saint Vallier, then follow signs to the hospital, St Uze and St Barthelemy de Vals. Once in St Barthelemy de Vals take a right in the village (Les Roches qui Dansent is indicated on the right) and follow the road up to the top of the hill and a 4-way junction.
Drive up through the trees, the boulders can be seen from the car park.
