Crag features

The peak of Col Rosa hosts another excellent via ferrata located directly opposite the more famous Michielli Strobel. The route traverses the isolated and perfectly formed peak of Col Rosa, that has commanding views of the surrounding area. The approach to the start of the wire is long and strenuous, as is the descent. The ferrata itself is fairly short and stiff but has excellent climbing. The long approach does help keep the crowds away and is in itself very pleasant with fantastic views down into the Val di Fanes and across to the three Tofanas.

Approach notes

From Cortina, take the SS51 north in the direction of Dobbiaco. After 4km, just before you reach the village of Fiames, take the small left turning signed to 'Camping Olympia'. Park just after crossing the bridge in the spaces available outside the campsite, opposite a small park. Be careful not to obstruct the entrance to the campsite itself.
