A great 7a+ roof problem in the charming granite boulderfield of Orlu in the Ariège © chez Arran
Every style of climbing is catered for at the fantastic array of bouldering on perfect granite at the Secteur de la Cour des Miracles.
Located west of the village of Orlu under the outstanding La Dent d'Orlu.
There are 6 circuits:
Yellow for the kids, suitable for very young ones,
Orange to "hone your skills",
Blue gets you on the Font 4 - 5+ ladder,
Red provides Font 5+ to 6b
White is towards the upper end of the scale to Font 7a
whereas the Elite circuit will have you cranking Font 7a+ all the way to 7c+ with some projects at 8a and above ready for the .
Tucked away in a depression within the woods On windless days it can get stifeling.
It is good to have a spotter or a companion to watch out for bears! it can be rather eerie on your own.
500m past the village of Orlu (travelling from Ax) a bridge over the river leads to a car park / picnic area.
Walk east back towards the village (on the opposing side of the river) and the first of the bouders will come into sight at the first river bend. From here follow the trail up the hill and into the woods.
Although very tempting, do not camp at the picnic/parking area. There is a campsite at the other end of the Orlu village.
