Crag features

A secluded cove with an open and persuasive charm. Porthguarnon West provides a number of long esoteric rambles on the western arm of the cove while Porthguarnon East has numerous fine short pitches on excellent rock and a sunny aspect on the eastern side. Porthguarnon East rises to a height of 60m straight from the sea, but in 3 tiers separated by wide terraces. It has some excellent short routes, many non-tidal, that can be linked together to provide an excellent day out in beautiful surroundings.

Approach notes

The cove can be reached via the right-of-way through Treverven Farm, where there is a well-equipped campsite. Climbers must enquire at the campsite office about parking. From here, follow the path to the coast path and follow this westwards, descending steeply into the cove.

Probably easiest to approach by abseil - a 50m rope just reaches from the top of the upper tier to the foot of the middle tier.
