Great quality rock, plenty of climbs, accessible grades and shade available all day make The Egg a popular crag but with some routes now showing signs of it. Definitely worth a few visits in it's own right but almost essential on hot days.
Also benefits from a relatively uninterrupted landscape and is quite set back from the closest road, sound pollution being much less of an issue than at other crags. It's possible to use the fail safe shade of The Egg when the heat gets too much at close by White Mountain.
Begin by heading East on Pantao Road in the centre of Yangshuo, following it South until you reach new traffic lights at the G321 crossroad. From here head East again, through another set of traffic lights and onto large motorway likely to be under construction. Continue on this road about 2 miles until you cross a bridge and the road improves.
Now either turn right and continue through the village for half a mile or stay on the large smooth road until a cross road is reached. At the cross road head South East and continue for just under a mile. An obvious split in the road will appear in a small built up area with a large red tree between the roads.
About 20 meters before the red tree a small road heads South West, follow this road that turns into a dirt track past various clusters of buildings for again just under a mile until a junction is reached with the track on the left and a path on the right. Walk or ride down the path for about 200 meters, the East face is the first buttress you come to.
