This is the wide and fairly open dale with two crags. Can be slow to dry.
Approach notes
Park on the horseshoe bend on The Red Road, 500m from Alton. A path marked Toothill Wood goes steeply uphill. Don't take this - unless you want to go to Toothill Rock - which you don't! Take the road just right of this, leading to Rakes Dale House. After 150m, a path on the left leads past a barn into an open grassy dale. The crags lie on the flanks of this dale.
