Crag features

Roadside (parking for 10 cars 100m above the crag on left), well bolted, spread of grades, north facing

Great shaded summer venue, good for family groups, with slabs as well as vertical faces. Topos available at the crag.

Cold in winter with some seepage. A visit in February found damp cracks and chilly rock.

Local council rules state: 'Helmet use Obligatory, no soloing or bouldering allowed.' No checks of these rules have been reported.

Approach notes

From La Trinite on the outskirts of Nice, turn right at the traffic lights beyond the Auchan supermarket and left at the first set of lights by the petrol station. Follow the road uphill past residential houses for about 1km. Park 100m up the road on the left beyond the obvious quarry.

France : Côte d'Azur

Côte d'Azur covers the famous cliffs of Calanques, Sainte Victoire and the Verdon and also includes some of the great venues around Toulon, the sunniest city in France. Plus there is the popular winter venue of Châteauvert, the less well known Esterel and Châteaudouble area. Add in Saint Jeannet and a selection of cliffs in the Nice area and this will become an essential volume for any climber.
